BigCommerce Appoints Jimmy Duvall as Chief Product Officer

Ecommerce Industry Veteran and Former Hootsuite Executive Tapped to Lead Product Strategy for Leading Commerce Platform

AUSTIN, Texas — July 26, 2016 — BigCommerce, the leading ecommerce platform for fast-growing and established brands, announced today that Jimmy Duvall has joined the company as chief product officer. With more than 20 years of leadership experience at commerce-related companies — including Magento, eBay, GSI Commerce and Yahoo! — Duvall will lead BigCommerce’s global product organization, overseeing all aspects of product management, design and strategy.

“Jimmy has an unrivaled appreciation for what large and growing retailers expect from a commerce platform provider. His background has provided him with a keen understanding of what works and what doesn’t in this space.” said Brent Bellm, CEO of BigCommerce. “Jimmy is a huge asset as we develop our 2017 product roadmap and continue executing our vision to provide the industry’s most feature-rich and flexible commerce platform.”

Duvall joins BigCommerce from Hootsuite, where he served as vice president of product since December 2014, helping to grow Small Business and Enterprise adoption of the platform. Prior to Hootsuite, Duvall was head of product for Magento at eBay Inc. Previously, he also held executive and senior-leadership roles at GSI Commerce and Yahoo!, where he acted as senior director of web hosting and ecommerce products for six years.

“BigCommerce has emerged as a category leader by developing a platform that meets the needs of retailers that require enterprise-grade functionality and performance, but don’t want to burden their businesses with unnecessary IT costs and complexity,” added Duvall. “As these brands grow, our desire as a platform partner is to establish a new standard for exceptional shopping experiences. BigCommerce is the best positioned commerce provider to help its customers realize that potential.”

Duvall’s appointment comes at a pivotal point in the company’s history as it continues to displace legacy competitors. Recently, the company announced a new partnership with Gorilla Group, an award-winning commerce services provider best known for being a Premier Magento Solution Partner, as well as a new offer designed to provide retailers with thousands of dollars in savings when migrating to BigCommerce Enterprise.

Earlier in 2016, BigCommerce eclipsed $9 billion in cumulative gross merchandise volume processed, and in May 2016 the company announced $30 million in new financing led by GGV Capital. In the past six months, BigCommerce introduced Channel Manager, providing merchants the ability to list and sell products across third-party sales channels natively within the BigCommerce platform, and unveiled an entirely new theming platform to help retailers create beautiful, immersive storefronts that convert. In the past year, the company has announced a number of product enhancements and integrations with strategic partners including eBay, Facebook, PayPal, Pinterest, NetSuite, Square, Xero and ShipperHQ.
